Country Shows was founded by Ireland’s leading pr agent Brian Cunningham (O Cuinneagáin)

Brian Cunningham (O Cuinneagáin) has been associated with Country Music for many years now, at the young age of sixteen he produced his first ever charity Cd and tape called Helping Me, Helping You which raised vast sums of money for his local Hospice in Donegal. Some of Ireland’s top entertainers performed on the production at the time which was sold locally, nationally and internationally.

This was to give Brian his taste for country music and when many of his school friends would have been interested in pop music and going to discos, Brian was quite content at listening to some of Ireland’s top country entertainers and going to dances.

Brian hadn’t planned to get involved in the music industry but instead had planned to become a teacher, which he states now that ‘he doesn’t think he would have stayed teaching as he likes to be on the move and loves doing what he is now working at within the music and hospitality industries’.

It was during his late years at secondary school that Brian got involved in local radio with North West Radio. Brian then managed to secure his own radio slot with Ocean FM presenting Ocean Country three evenings a week.  It was during this period that Brian was to commence doing a yearly concert called An Evening of Country Music, which usually was held on the 1st Monday of September each year in Donegal. As time progressed this was to lead to various shows being held around the country and further afield, to where we are today.

This year marks a very special anniversary for An Evening of Country Music and the Christmas Country Concert Tour and over the years, most if not all of Ireland’s leading country entertainers have featured on the shows. Some have even found recognition on the show!  It was some 10 years ago when a young gentleman called Nathan Carter attended An Evening of Country Music at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town and Brian was informed that he could sing and in turn suggested to his good friend, ‘Queen of Country Music’, Philomena Begley to allow the young gentleman up to sing. He went down a treat and look at what he has achieved since. We are delighted for him and his now manager John Farry who also appeared that night on the show.

If it’s country you are after Brian Cunningham’s Evening of Country Music Shows and The Christmas Country Concert Tour are shows you will not want to miss.
